Honda NWX 125 – coming soon to rival the Hero Xoom 125?

The NWX 125 is already on sale in select global markets, predominantly including South East Asia. However, its design getting patented in India might sound like good news but it is not. The highest probability is that Honda has done the patent to secure the design and the name in India.

However, we shall not lose hope as it is a strikingly good scooter for our market. In fact, Hero Xoom 125 has become a fair hit in the two-wheeler market of India. Hence, the NWX 125 can also become a good alternative to the segment contenders.

Speaking of the design, the NWX 125 has a sharp front fascia that resonates with the high-end scooters from the brand that are sold in the global markets. The sharp and youthful design is complemented by the big and wide single seat and a flat footboard for comfort and convenience.

It is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes a peak power of 9.3 bhp and 10 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a reliable CVT automatic gearbox. In terms of features, it comes equipped with LED lights, an LCD console, Bluetooth connectivity, and more.

The suspension duty is done by a telescopic setup at the front and dual-shockers at the rear. Moreover, the front wheel is equipped with a disc brake, while the rear tyre gets a drum brake.

Our verdict

Honda is unlikely to launch the NWX 125 in India. But, the potential of the 125cc scooter market in India is ever-growing. While Honda is currently securing its design and nomenclature for the NWX 125, we can not deny completely that it will not be launched in India ever.
