Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has entered into the MPV segment with the launch of its mid-size 7-seater, Honda Mobilio. Prices for the MPV start from Rs. 6.49 lakh (Ex-Showroom Delhi).
The Mobilio will be powered by the 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine producing 99 BHP @ 3,600 RPM and 200 Nm @ 1,750 RPM. The petrol motor is a 1.5L i-VTEC engine producing 117 BHP @ 6,600 RPM and 145 Nm @ 4,600 RPM. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel engine delivers a fuel efficiency of 24.2 kmpl while the petrol motor delivers 17.3 kmpl.
To cater to a younger audience, Honda will launch the Mobilio is a sporty body kit variant, called the Mobilio RS. Deliveries of the Mobilio RS will begin from September 2014. The RS variant comes with sportier front and rear bumpers, projector headlamps with LEDs, exclusive alloy wheel design, a different chrome grille, a tailgate spoiler, side sill garnish, ORVMs with turn indicators and chrome door handles.
The Mobilio is 4386mm long, 1683mm wide & 1603mm tall with a wheelbase of 2652 mm and minimum turning radius of 5.2m. Ground clearance stands at 189mm and the base cargo area is a generous 223L, which can be enhanced to 521L in the 3rd row fold configuration. Localisation content of the Honda Mobilio stands at 90%.
Safety features include dual front SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelts with pretentioner and load limiters and impact mitigating headrests. ABS with EBD is standard across all diesel variants. Two years or 40,000 kms warranty is provided as standard.
The Mobilio will be available in three variants for both petrol and diesel — E, S and V. The Mobilio RS will be available only in a diesel engine option.
