Honda has launched the SP160 in India. This makes it the third offering in the 160cc segment. The motorcycle has been priced from INR 1,17,500 to INR 1,21,900. All prices ex-showroom. This means, the SP160 sits in between the Unicorn and the XBlade.

Honda SP160 : More Details

Honda wanted to offer a motorcycle in the 160cc segment that stands out. Hence, the SP160 borrows styling from the smaller SP125, but the design elements are larger. For instance the bike’s LED headlamp is similar to the one on the SP125, but it is larger. Similarly the tail light looks unique and stands out from the crowd.

Colour options on this bike include Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic , Matte Dark Blue Metallic , Pearl Spartan Red, Pearl Igneous Black and Pearl Deep Ground Gray.

Honda’s Unicorn is known for its no-nonsense approach and dependable reliability. But, with similar underpinnings, the SP160 aims to offer a much more modern and youthful approach to design. The SP160 gets tank extensions, sharp lines and gets a digital instrument cluster.

The LCD unit displays information like speed, tachometer, gear position and more. There is also the trip distance and fuel information handily available. That said, it doesn’t offer Bluetooth connectivity.

Powertrain of the Honda SP160

Honda is using the same engine along with the frame from the Unicorn for the SP160. This means, the air-cooled 162cc, single-cylinder motor will power the SP160. The stats on this unit read as 13.5 BHP and 14.6 Nm.

The XBlade meanwhile, has been tuned slightly higher than this.

Pricing of the Honda SP160

The single disc version of the SP160 is priced at INR 1.18 lakh. The Deluxe version meanwhile gets a 220mm rear disc with price set at INR 1.22 lakh.

The new SP160 rivals the likes of the Yamaha FZ, Suzuki Gixxer and the Pulsar 150. The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V also rivals the Honda.
