Honda launches 2021 CB650R in India at INR 8.67 lakh

Honda has launched the 2021 CB650R in India at the price of INR 8.67 lakh ex-showroom. The Honda CB650R neo-retro sports cafe makes its debut for the first time in the Indian market and is offered in two colour options – Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. The brand has also announced that bookings for the 2021 Honda Cb650R have commenced at all BigWing Topline showrooms located in Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Indore, Kochi & Hyderabad. The 2021 Honda CB650R will come to India via the CKD (Completely Knocked-Down) route.

Design & Styling

The 2021 Honda CB650R comes with a rounded LED headlamp cluster with LED position lamps, an elongated fuel tank reverberating with the CB design, short rear overhang, small side panels, steel rear mudguard and features compact ‘Trapezoid’ proportions. The naked roadster features a side slung mid-ship style exhaust, straight handlebars and two-up seats.

Powertrain

Powering the Honda CB650R is a liquid-cooled 649cc in-line four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC motor with a PGM-FI electronic fuel injection system and a highly efficient downdraft intake layout that produces 86 Hp of power and 57.5 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox and an assist/slipper clutch for easier clutch operation. The clutch also reduces rear-wheel lock-up under heavy deceleration and aggressive downshifts. The 2021 Honda CB650R also comes with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) to manage rear-wheel traction. The switchable traction control system optimises the torque at the rear wheel, reducing rear-wheel slip.

Mechanical Bits

The 2021 Honda CB650R features a twin-tube type frame that rides on Showa Separate Function-Big Piston (SSF-BP) USD Forks on the front, a monoshock on the rear and the swingarm pivot and well as the engine hanger structure contributes to weight reduction and mass centralization optimizing the motorcycle’s stability. The motorcycle is also equipped with Y-shaped 5-spoke alloy wheels that help reduce the un-sprung weight.

Features

The CB650R features a circular LED headlight equipped with a black bezel, steel number plate mount, Dual channel ABS, ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) technology that is able to detect sudden braking and automatically activates the front and rear hazard lights, Honda Ignition Security System (HISS) and a digital LCD instrument cluster that shows information such as speed, RPM, trip meter, gear position, fuel level and fuel consumption, clock, engine temperature, etc.
