The first round of the 2021 IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Hunt held at Kart Attack in Chennai, saw a total participation of 14 riders from 5 cities namely, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Bengaluru and Delhi. Riders of various age groups starting from 9 years old to 17 years old took part in this edition of the event. In fact, breaking all the prejudice, the event also saw a 14-year-old female rider as one of the participants. The event tested the candidates to go through 3 levels of difficulty that determined their physical strength, riding skills and manoeuvrability on the track. The event also included a one-on-one interview with the candidates and their parents so as to understand their aspirations and judge the family support which is one of the most important factors to become the next iconic rider of India.

The Future Plans

All the shortlisted candidates in Level 1 will undergo rigorous training to ride on the track in Level 2. From the Level 2 pool of riders, Honda will choose the best talent who will get professional training to make them ready for the Honda India Talent Cup ‘CBR150R’ category in the 2021 season. Honda aims to strengthen the motorsport scene in India and build a world-class platform to make the young riders ready for events like Asian Talent Cup, CEV, Asian Road Racing Championship, MotoGP and more.
