Honda Elite 125 BSVI scooter launch this month

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Honda TwoWheelers which is one of the leading scooter and motorcycle companies in the country has announced the launch of India’s first BSVI two-wheeler. The brand has not revealed if the two-wheeler will be a scooter or a motorcycle, but according recently leaked images, the two-wheeler in question could be a BSVI compliant Honda Scooter which will be launched on 12th June 2019.

The scooter in question is expected to be a new variant of the Honda Activa 125 as per rumours. But the leaked images lead us to believe that this could very well be the Elite 125 scooter on sale in international markets. If the rumours are true and if Honda launches the Elite 125, it would then officially become the India’s first BSVI compliant scooter.

The Elite 125 is available for sale in the international market, and the scooter is laden with Honda’s highly refined and quiet electronic fuel-injection system called, Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI). The new 125cc engine along with the fuel delivery system is likely to be BSVI compliant.

The scooter features a sharp front apron design with split LED headlights and a ‘Y’ shaped tail light unit. The scooter will get 12-inch 5-spoke alloy wheel on the front and a 10-inch alloy wheel on the rear, shod in tubeless tyres.  The scooter also gets a generous under-seat storage compartment and a fully digital instrument console. LED DRLs will also be in place.

On the mechanical front, the bike will feature a telescopic front fork and a mono-shock at the rear. The front gets a hydraulically operated disc brake while the rear gets an internally expanding mechanical drum brake. The Elite 125 FI will be equipped with a Combined Braking System (CBS) to conform with the latest safety norms as per Government mandate in India.

Internationally, the engine on the scooter is a 125cc air/fan-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke motor with PGM-FI which produces 8.52 HP of power and 10.54 Nm of torque.  The India-spec BSVI compliant engine is likely to get a slight change in its state of tune. The weight and dimensions of the Elite 125 FI stand at 1,735mm in length, 689mm in width, 1,118mm in height with a wheelbase of 1,223mm and a seat height of 772mm. The kerb weight of the scooter is 104 kg, the ground clearance is 133mm and the fuel tank capacity is 6.4 litres.

The Honda Elite 125 if launched could become the brands most expensive scooter in India.
