Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) continues its National Road Safety Awareness Campaign in the country. The aim is to re-emphasise the need for road safety awareness among citizens. With the opening up of colleges and schools, Honda is shifting its focus toward educating the younger generation now. The three-day camp (19 – 21 July 2022) at the D A V Public School, Riverside, Ambala Cantt witnessed spirited participation from nearly 3000 personnel. This includes both school students and staff members who set out to imbibe safe riding practices. HMSI’s road safety instructors utilised this road safety learning program to enhance the retention of road safety awareness among all.

Given the growing number of fatalities due to road accidents, the need for the hour is a good road safety awareness program. This will help develop a proper road safety mindset. Honda has been a keen contributor to this cause. Events like these go a long way in proving the brand’s dedication. The reason for targeting the younger generation is so that they become the safety ambassadors of tomorrow. And at the same time, it helps adults understand the importance of using the roads safely.

Key Takeaways From This Event

HMSI’s educated 5 to 10 years old about the do’s and don’ts while commuting on a school bus and cycling. Furthermore, the 11 to 12 years old learnt how to ride their bicycle safely, the importance of safety gear while riding two-wheelers, and their duties as a pillion on a two-wheeler. To keep up the excitement, the kids got a hands-on learning experience on the specially imported CRF50 motorcycles.

Safety riding sessions also included theory sessions. The topics included road signs and markings, road rules and regulations, driver’s duties on the road, riding gear, correct seating posture and safe riding etiquette. Staff members of the school who are already existing riders tested and honed their learnings through theoretical as well as practical learnings. To engage maximum participation, HMSI also conducted fun educational activities like road safety games and quizzes on a daily basis.
