Honda CG 160

As revealed in the latest design patent notary, the CG 160 commuter bike has been patented in India. It is a globally renowned bike that sells like hot cake in select markets like Brazil. Known majorly for its reliable engine and simple build, the CG 160 is a capable commuter bike.

As visible in the design patent image, Honda has patented the bike as it is in the international markets. It bears a simple outlook of a typical commuter segment motorcycle with its LED headlamp, tubular handlebar, single seat, and a slim overall outlook. The Brazilian-spec bike comes equipped with a digital instrument console that displays multi-info including the RPM and speedometer.

The hardware used on the CG 160 is also sturdy and basic as it is equipped with telescopic front forks, dual shockers, and a single disc brake on the front tyre. Powering the CG 160 is a 162.7 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that is also the lightest in its segment. This FI engine generates 14.4 bhp of peak power output and 13.8 Nm of peak torque that is mated to a smooth 5-speed transmission.

Honda has been known to patent its international models in India to secure the design and brand nomenclature. However, as of now, there is no official information on the CG 160 coming to the Indian shores. Honda already sells the SP 160 which rivals the TVS Apache RTR 160 and the Bajaj Pulsar N160.

Our verdict

The CG 160 is a capable commuter motorcycle that offers peppy performance in the city due to its lightweight construction. While Honda has patented it in India, we assume that it will not be launched due to the availability of the SP 160.
