Honda celebrates Teacher’s Day through ‘Honda Road Safety E-Gurukul’

On Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday, which is commemorated as Teacher’s Day, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) conducted a Digital Road Safety Awareness Training – ‘Honda Road Safety E-Gurukul’ exclusively for school & college

teachers across India. The road safety awareness program was conducted by Honda Safety Instructors trained over 1650 school & college teachers. The brand also confirmed that more than 600 school & college students also became part of this pan India virtual celebrations.

The one-hour digital learning program was covered in 27 cities across the country including Delhi, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Karnal, Chandigarh, Etawah, Auraiya to South Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Cuttack, Bhubaneshwar, Bilaspur, Durg, Sambalpur, Thane, Yeole, Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, Panvel, Ahmednagar, Satara, Jalgaon & Aurangabad. 

The one-hour session is based on a mix of theory, videos & case studies and important road safety topics such as understanding traffic lights & signals, road safety rules, signs & markings, preventive measures for avoiding road accident injuries, Road sharing manners, steps to ensure while overtaking, turning or at intersections & round-about and major checks before leaving off to ride/drive and vehicle maintenance tips. Each session was then followed by a Question & Answer session for resolving queries on various topics.

Recently, Honda started the digital road safety campaign in May 2020 that spread across 19 States, 50 cities and Union Territories. The brand has, till date, educated over 23,000 people including 8,500 kids of 230 schools, 43 colleges & 137 corporate offices spread across the country creating awareness on road safety.

In other news, Honda has launched a sub-200cc segment sporty streetfighter, the Honda Hornet 2.0 at the price of INR 1.26 lakh ex-showroom, Gurugram. The Honda Hornet 2.0 competes with the Hero Motocorp Xtreme 200R, TVS Apache 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS in the Indian market. The Honda Hornet 2.0 is expected to arrive at Honda dealerships from the first week of September and will be offered in four colour options – Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Sangria Red Metallic, Matte Axis Grey Metallic and Matte Marvel Blue Metallic.
