Honda CD 110 Dream discontinued in India?

Honda CD 110 Dream

The CD 110 Dream was introduced in India almost a decade ago. It was the entry-level commuter motorcycle of the brand, which rivalled the Hero Spelndor.

However, with time, it required major updates, which Honda did not do, and the bike started to feel old to new customers. As a result, the sales kept dropping continuously before reaching to a complete halt, i.e. zero units sold last month.

Another major reason behind its discontinuation could be the fact that it was pending the OBD-2B emission update. Seeing its falling sales, it would have seemed more reasonable to discontinue it, rather than spend money on just upgrading the engine for the emission update.

The last noted price for the CD 110 Dream was Rs 76,401 (ex-showroom). It was a simple, durable, rugged, and abuse-friendly motorcycle. The main aim of it was to provide the tier-2 and tier-3 customers with a reliable commuter option.

With that said, we are still waiting for an official statement from the company’s headquarters. Moreover, it will be interesting to see how Honda will reshape its entry-level 110cc commuter product strategy against the rivals.

Our verdict

The discontinuation of the CD 110 Dream shall not hurt the profits of the company because of its nearly dead sales. However, for customers who were planning to buy it, they will now have to wait for a new product or opt for the rivals.
