Hero MotoCorp & Zero Motorcycles will develop premium electric two-wheelers

Hero MotoCorp has announced a new agreement with Zero Motorcycles. The latter is a California-based premium electric motorcycle and powertrain manufacturer. Both the companies will collaborate on premium electric motorcycles. To this effect, the Indo US companies have signed agreements.

As per the plan, the collaboration will make use of Zero’s expertise in new electric powertrains and Hero’s scale of manufacturing, sourcing and marketing.

Back in September 2022, the Board of Hero gave the go ahead for an investment of US$ 60 million in Zero Motorcycles.

According to the Chairman and CEO of Hero MotoCorp, the partnership is a major milestone in the company’s plans to bring in sustainable and clean technology. The collaboration will help speed up the transition to electric mobility in India and in other markets where Hero has a presence.

Zero’s CEO Sam Paschel revealed that both the companies are working towards transforming the electric riding experience and plan to bring innovative products to the market.

Zero Motorcycles is the global leader in electric motorcycles and powertrains. Designed and crafted in California, Zero Motorcycles combines Silicon Valley technology with traditional motorcycle soul to elevate the motorcycling experience for riders around the world.

Hero’s Vision for Future Mobility

Hero’s Be the Future of Mobility’ initiative addresses emerging mobility spaces including electric vehicles. For this the company is looking at a range of organic and inorganic methods. The latest brand, Vida, powered by Hero, has launched its first EV the Vida V1. Simultaneously, the brand also initiated public charging infrastructure in Delhi, Jaipur and Bengaluru. The company has already setup over 300 charging points for public use.

Vida V1 : More Details

Vida commenced customer deliveries of its electric vehicle – the Vida V1 scooter in the month of December 2022. Hero MotoCorp delivered the very first electric vehicle of the brand in Bengaluru. This was from VIDA’s Experience Center on Vittal Mallya Road.

The Vida V1 comes with a host of convenient removable batteries along with a three-way charging option. The scooter is available in two variants. The Vida V1 Plus starts at INR 1,35,705 while the VIDA V1 Pro retails at INR 1,46,880. This price includes all connected features, a portable charger and a charging service.
