Hero MotoCorp Xpulse 210 with Karizma XMR engine spotted testing

Written by Nizam Shaikh

In the recent past, it was being rumoured that the Hero MotoCorp’s only adventure motorcycle the Xpulse 200 is likely to soon get a massive engine upgrade. Spyshots of a test mule also led us to believe that the brand is working on a 400cc Xpulse motorcycle. In addition to this, rumours also indicated that the brand could be planning to use the 440cc air-cooled unit from the Mavrick 440 on the future Xpulse. But, it turn out that you are in for a disappointment.

Latest spyshots reveal that Hero MotoCorp is not likely to offer a 400-450cc motor on the future Xpulse but instead use a 210cc engine. However, its is also a relief to know that this motor could be from the Karisma XMR. Which means the future Xpulse, though not as powerful and torquey as the Mavrick 440 but could get a liquid-cooled engine instead of an air-cooled engine, which is still a boon for Xpulse fanboys.

Hero Xpulse 210 – Spyshots

According to the spy image, a test mule with a Karizma XMR has been spotted road testing in India. In the image, the right hand side (Clutch Cover) of the engine is visible with an oil-filter cap similar to the XMR’s 210cc motor. In addition to this, eagle eyed readers would also notice the water-cooling pump and plumbing just ahead of the clutch cover and lower crankcase. Furthermore, the cylinder block appears to be sans air cooling-fins, which leads us to believe that the engine on the test mule is from the Karizma XMR.

Hero Xpulse 210 – Performance

In its current form, the Hero Xpulse 200 4V is powered by a 199.6cc air-oil-cooled single-cylinder liquid-cooled SOHC engine that produces 18.9 PS of power and 17.35 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. However, if Hero offers the engine from the XMR, the 210cc liquid-cooled DOHC unit produces 25.5 PS of power and 20.4 Nm of torque along with a 6-speed transmission. This will add a bump of around 5 PS and 3 Nm to the current engine offering.

Hero Xpulse 210 – Challenges

But, there certainly are engineering challenges to it, as the current Xpulse 200 4V uses a diamond frame with a down tube running down the centre. To accommodate the radiator on the Xpulse the brand would have surely reworked the chassis which could be a trellis frame similar in architecture as the XMR, and that could be under the camouflaged body of the test mule pictured above.

Expect the Hero Xpulse 210 to arrive by the end of 2025, however, the timeline for the mid-spec 400cc machines are still unknown.
