Hero MotoCorp sold 5.77 lakh two-wheelers in March 2021

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer announces its sales report for the month of March 2021. The company sold close to 576,957 units in March 2021, which translates to year-on-year growth of 72 per cent when compared to the same period last year. In March 2020, Hero MotoCorp sold close to 334,647 units but the sales were adversely impacted due to the transition to BS-VI and the nation-wide lockdown later that month. In the global market, Hero MotoCorp made its highest ever sales in a single month selling 32,617 units via its Global Business channel which results in a growth of 82 per cent over the corresponding month last year. The maximum of the international sales came from Latin America where the premium motorcycles namely, Xpulse and Hunk 160R are much in demand. Despite the CoronaVirus pandemic hitting the automotive industry, the world’s largest two-wheeler company closed the fiscal year (April 2020 – March 2021) with 57,91,539 units of sales.

Hero MotoCorp did bring in a lot of new products despite the ongoing pandemic. The key launches include Glamour Blaze, Pleasure Or Platinum, Maestro Edge 125 ‘Stealth’ Edition and Splendor+ Black and Accent, Xtreme 200S, Xtreme 160R and Destini 125 Platinum. The company also made some great strategic partnerships of which the most important one being with Harley-Davidson, which will enable the Hero MotoCorp to develop and sell a range of premium motorcycles under the Harley Davidson brand name. This partnership will also enable Hero MotoCorp to sell parts, accessories and merchandise which includes riding gears and apparel through Hero MotoCorp’s wide dealership network in India. The demand for electric two-wheelers is also on the rise, thus Hero MotoCorp increased its equity share in Ather Energy to 34.81 per cent by making an additional investment of INR 174 crore. In terms of sales figure, Hero MotoCorp surpassed the cumulative production milestone of 100 million units, which is one of the greatest achievements in the auto industry.
