Hero MotoCorp & Hindustan Petroleum will set up EV charging stations

Hero MotoCorp & Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have announced their collaboration. Under this, they aim to establish charging infrastructure for Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the country. The companies will take responsibility for setting up charging infrastructure for two-wheeled electric vehicles (EVs) across the country. Given the massive demand for EV infrastructure, this will provide a major boost to mass mobility’s transition toward an electrified future. The collaboration of the two mega entities – Hero MotoCorp and HPCL – speaks of their efforts towards enabling a smooth transition towards EVs. The companies will also give assurance of long-term solutions, thus enabling constant innovation.

What’s Planned Under This Collaboration?

The two companies will first aim to establish charging infrastructure at HPCL’s existing network of nationwide energy stations. Then they will plan to broaden the collaboration for supplementary business opportunities subsequently. In the first phase, the collaboration will set up charging stations in select cities. Then going forward, they will expand to other key markets. The long-term aim is to establish a high-density EV charging station network across the country.

Hero MotoCorp will be responsible for the infrastructure development for the charging network. Each charging station will house multiple smart as well as fast chargers. This will include both DC and AC chargers that will be available to all two-wheeled EVs. Customers can control the entire user charging experience with a Hero MotoCorp Mobile App. This will also feature a cashless transaction model.

The strong and massive HPCL energy station network will add to the accelerated opportunities to expand the scope of operations and services.
