Written by Akhil Dalvi

One of India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers, Hero Electric, has announced its partnership with the 24/7 roadside assistance company ReadyAssist. Hero Electric will work together with ReadyAssist to train and upskill 20,000 mechanics for servicing EVs and develop their skills. Under its Private Garage Owners (PGO) initiative, Hero Electric will focus on reskilling technician competence to build a robust EV ecosystem. The partnership will allow them to identify technicians who are willing to upgrade their skills during two years of coaching.

Skill Set Training & Partnership DetailsĀ

Hero Electric states that the training program will consist of two stages, divided between the beginners and experts, respectively. Once the mechanics finish their training, both companies will provide a final assessment before handing out a Certificate of Merit. These certified mechanics will then provide their services to ReadyAssist across their Indian customer base via their GRID initiative. This specialized vertical only focuses on EV competency to address the growing demand for on-spot and doorstep services in India.

Hero Electric states that it plans to enable a strong network of proficient mechanics to serve its customer base. It also commented on the uniqueness of the training module and how it imparts general technical knowledge for servicing EVs. Additionally, the partnership with ReadyAssist will accelerate Hero Electric’s objective of empowering individuals with competency via their expansive PGO network. ReadyAssist states that the partnership will allow them to access and certify a private workshop into a Hero Electric authorized workshop.

Hero Electric & ReadyAssist UndertakingsĀ

Hero Electric aims to employ its R&D teams and resources to train ReadyAssist’s existing network of 5000 mechanics. Along with working on Hero Electric’s vehicles, the training will also allow the mechanics to work on other EV products. Freshers, college students, and other aspiring candidates can apply for this unique module program to gain EV competency. Hero Electric also plans to expand its PGO ecosystem and has partnered with several upcoming startups to achieve its goal.

Over the next 2 years, Hero Electric aims to train 20,000 mechanics and has already trained 6,000 PGOs. Meanwhile, ReadyAssist is one of India’s leading players in providing 24/7, on-spot repairs, breakdown assistance, and accidental recovery. Along with providing fitting/assembling services at home, the company has built its presence across 19,000 pin codes. Throughout the country, ReadyAssist will offer its support to any stranded customer within 30-40 minutes at any time of the day.
