Hero Electric has launched the Photon scooter in India at a price of Rs. 41,990 (ex-showroom Delhi). Unlike other electric scooters, the Photon will need a RTO registration to be used on the streets and the rider needs to have a two-wheeler license.

The Photon is dubbed under the high speed E-bike category of the Hero Electric products.

The electric Photon scooter is powered by a 1500W waterproof, DC motor. It gets two riding modes – power and economy. The company claims that the scooter has a range of 50 km / charge in power mode and 80 km / charge in economy mode. Claimed achievable top speed is of 45 kmph.

The scooter has a VRLA 33 AH / 48V battery and comes equipped with a multi-stage charger with in-built memory regulating the charge based on battery condition. It has a fire resistant wiring harness for added safety. It also gets an anti-theft alarm.

The scooter is built on a steel chassis and looks like any other scooter plying on the city streets; except for this one will be a noise and emission free one. It gets a round headlamp on the handlebar and clear lens turn indicators on the front apron. It gets a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear mounted on 10″ steel alloy wheels. Telescopic suspension does the duty at the front end. The scooter will be available in three colours – white, black and burgundy.

Dealers are offering finance schemes for 8 months on the Photon. Also available is the easy battery EMI scheme within 24 months of purchase via the ‘Super Saver Battery Scheme’.
