Harley-Davidson is recalling the Pan America adventure motorcycle once again. The brand has reportedly found a problem with the instruments cluster which will be fixed under this recall. Sources suggest that the recall is specific for the North-American where the motorcycle has gained quite a bit of popularity in a short amount of time.
Harley-Davidson Pan America – The Fault
Certain units of the Harley-Davidson Pan America may have a fault with the instruments cluster. The digital dashboard may not display the speed indication and neutral gear indication when the ambient temperature goes below zero degrees centigrade. This may be a safety hazard, in case a someone rides the motorcycle in those conditions. Without the speedometer and neutral indicator, the rider may be at risk of a crash or injury. However, it is important to note that no crash, injury or death has been reported pertaining to this recall.
Harley-Davidson Pan America – The Solution
Harley-Davidson Pan America models sold between May 24 to October 19, 2021, may have the faulty dashboard. The brand will fix the issue by updating the instruments cluster with a software. Harley-Davidson Pan America owners can bring their bikes to their nearest dealerships the fix the issue free of cost. The Indian arm of the American motorcycle brand has not issued a recall in the Indian market.
Harley-Davidson Pan America – Seat Base Recall
Recently, Harley-Davidson recalled the Pan America motorcycle for lose threaded insert retention in the involved seat component – “Struct Tailsect Sub-compnt, Hand Hold”. Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 and Pan America 1250S manufactured between 8 March 2021 and 13 October 2021 may have the fault confirmed NHTSA. Harley-Davidson, under this recall will be replacing the part number 47200713 Seat Base with an updated part. Owners with VIN range beginning 1HD1ZES19MB300609 and ending with 1HD1ZES16MB315889 (Non Sequential) will receive a new part without any cost.
