Harley-Davidson launches X350 entry-level motorcycle, NOT IN INDIA

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Harley-Davidson has finally unveiled the X350 in the Chinese market. The small-segment Harley is a departure from the typical Harley motorbike and has been developed in partnership with QJ Motors.

What’s new in the Harley-Davidson X350?

In terms of design of the bike, Harley has taken inspiration from the Sportster SR1200X. The X350 comes with a circular LED headlamp, off-set single pod console amongst others. Noting the tank to tail region, we can make out some resemblance with the XR1200.

The fuel tank gets a tear-drop design and comes with angular edges. These edges blend with the long-ish tail section. That said, we can definitely say that the bike looks quite good.
We are still to receive full specifications, but some details are clearly visible. One of these is the all-LED lighting and the fully-digital instrument cluster.

Powertrain details of the Harley-Davidson X350

The X350 will be the first Harley-Davidson to be equipped with a small capacity motor. The bike makes use of a 353cc, inline twin cylinder engine with liquid cooling. Dimension wise, the engine has a bore of 70.5 mm while the stroke measures 45.2 mm. By this, we can make out that the engine will be sport and high revving.

Coming to the output of this 353cc engine, the bike has respectable power and torque numbers. The motor puts out 36.2 BHP along with 31 Nm of peak torque. Harley has equipped the X350 with a 6-speed manual transmission. We have to note that QJ Motor already uses this engine in the SRK 350 motorbike.

Notable Features of the Harley-Davidson X350

Don’t go by the small-sized motor. The bike comes with nice components like the premium upside-down suspension up front, 17-inch alloys and rear monoshock amongst others. Notably, the front suspension can be adjusted for rebound while the rear ones can handle variable preload and rebound.

In terms of brakes, the front gets an upmarket single disc paired with quad-piston callipers while the rear comes with a single piston disc.

The bike weighs in at 180 kg and the tank measures 13.5 litres.

Harley-Davidson’s plans for the X350 in India

While the bike has been released in China, we too can expect the company to sell the bike here. Firstly, the lower entry point to the brand will definitely attract more customers and secondly, the tie-up with Hero MotoCorp will offer better sales and after sales experience to the customers.

That said, we can expect the price of the bike to set around the INR 3.5 lakh mark. Doing so will make it quite an attractive proposition in India. For reference, a media report has revealed that the price of the X350 in China is set at INR 3.93 lakh.
