Government bans new car purchase for officials

Delhi government has put a ban on new vehicle purchase for officials.

The government decision suggests that an official should not buy a new vehicle unless their old ones complete their life cycle. This ban is applicable to all three municipal corporations of Delhi and the New Delhi Municipal Council officials.

Additionally, officials are not allowed to buy new vehicles upwards of Rs. 4.75 lakh. The officials much consider features such as fuel economy, eco-friendliness etc. while deciding on a new car purchase. Also, these vehicles much be purchased only through DGS&D (Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals) rate contract mode.

Delhi government has also fixed 200 litres of fuel per vehicle / month for official use.
