Gordon Murray reveals T.33 supercar with a V12 engine pumping 607 BHP

UK-based Gordon Murray Automotive has revealed the T.33 two-seater coupe supercar in a virtual reveal. The rear-mid engine supercar is a combination of classic styling and cutting edge technology. Although the T.33 supercar may appear like a retro classic but boasts to have been engineered without any compromises. The brand reveals that the T.33 is mechanically superior to a modern-day supercar. The T.33 also comes with sophisticated aerodynamics, a powerful V12 engine, 60’s inspired exterior design and uncluttered driver-focussed interiors.

GMA T.33 Supercar – Design Highlights

The Gordon Murray T.33 supercar draws its design inspiration from the 1960s machines. The two-seat supercar is classically styled and is arguably a timeless beauty. While the shape is timeless and elegant the car is certainly non-retro. The T.33 supercar comes features stacked LED headlights integrated with a brake cooling duct. The car features a wide air dam and a low bonnet design. The T.33 also comes with classic flared wheel arches, a wide haunch and canopy style cabin. The rump also integrates helicopter-style twin side luggage lockers with a combined 280 litres of luggage capacity. On the rear, the T.33 features jewel-like suspended rear lights in LED and twin exhaust outlets intricately crafted to perfection.

GMA T.33 Supercar – Aerodynamics and Weight

Gordon’s long career in Formula One has offered an advantage in the aerodynamics and the weight savings of the T.33. The meet the weight target, all the body panels are made from carbon fibre. While the GMA T.50 claims to be the most aerodynamically advanced supercar in the world, the same aerodynamic technology is also applied to the T.33. The T.33 does not use the distinctive fan from the T.50 but uses an aggressive diffuser shape and clever ducting on the rear. This delivers a new Passive Boundary Layer Control (PBLC) aero system, which is 30 per cent more efficient than a conventional ground effects supercar. In addition to this, the T.33 also comes with an active rear spoiler. 

GMA T.33 Supercar – Technical Specifications

Powering the GMA T.33 Supercar is a Cosworth GMA.2 – 3,994cc 65-degree V12 engine with a 14:1 compression ratio. The engine comes with gear-driven double overhead camshafts and inclined axis four valves per cylinder. The motor comes with a 48 volt integrated starter/generator (ISG) with a liquid-cooled 12v/48v power module. This helps the engine develop 615 PS of power and 451 Nm of torque. This translates to a power density of 154 PS/litre, and at just 1,090 kg of weight, the supercar offers a power to weight ratio of 564 PS/tonne. 

The engine power is transmitted to the ground via a manual, H-pattern, 6-speed gearbox with reverse gears and a multi-cone synchromesh. The car also features a Salisbury limited-slip differential. The gearbox is configured in a transverse position with high-speed bevel gears and spur gear final drive. It also comes with tripod constant velocity joints, gun-drilled driveshafts, a 184 mm dia low inertia clutch and a high-pressure pump for lubrication. As an option, the T.33 supercar also comes with an Instantaneous Gear Shift (IGS) with a power clutch and twin-barrel actuation with paddle shift.
