Goodbye Suzuki Hayabusa

Written by Parichay Malvankar

It has been 2 decades since the Suzuki Hayabusa came to life. But seems like it is the end of road for this legendary motorcycle. The Hayabusa will no longer be on sale in European markets from January 2019. The Hayabusa has been on sale unchanged for quite some time, while the segment has seen new models in the recent past.

Suzuki is working on a new generation of the Hayabusa, which we all know. However, we’ve not seen anything apart from renderings yet. This bike which rivals the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R will continue to be sold in India and USA till stocks last. The reason for discontinuing this model is the change in emission norms. The dated Suzuki Hayabusa does not meet the Euro IV emission norms and hence, has to be taken off the market.

In India, the Hayabusa enjoys a strong brand recall. Thanks to the movie franchise Dhoom. After the bike started being sold as a CKD in India with a massive price reduction, the Hayabusa has been a very popular big bike.

Till the next model comes in front of us, at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show / INTERMOT or EICMA, we can only wait and watch for further developments on the Hayabusa.
