G60 BMW 5-Series spotted in India uncovered before launch

Written by Nizam Shaikh

BMW’s new 2024 5-Series made its debut in the international market in 2023. Now, BMW could be planning to introduce the G60 BMW 5-Series in the Indian market soon. According to reports, the 2024 BMW 5-Series has arrived at the GARC (Global Automotive Research Centre) in Oragadam, Chennai.

The car is seen sans camouflage and appears to be in the regular wheelbase avatar. Also, the new G60 BMW 5-Series appears to be slightly raised than the international model which leads us to believe that the car could get a higher ground clearance for Indian roads. However, during transport suspension dead stops sometime make a car appear to be raised. Design wise, the model on the flatbed transport here in India appears to be similar as the international BMW 5-Series.

2024 BMW 5-Series – Design

In the design department, the new 5-Series comes with a more touring style as compared to the sporty G30 BMW 5-Series. The headlamps are larger and the roofline slopes far into the tailgate offering a Sportback look. The predecessor used to look much more sporty than the new model. However, the 5-Series is not currently available in India, and the new G80 5-Series is likely to fill the void. The interiors of the new BMW also come with a refreshed design and offer the latest technological features.

2024 BMW 5-Series – Powertrain

In the international markets, BMW offers a 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine. The engine produces 255 Hp of power and comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive option. The brand also offers a 3.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine. The straight-six engine produces 375 Hp of power and is capable of sprinting from 0-100 kmph in around 4.4 seconds.

In the Indian market, BMW is likely to offer the mild-hybrid 2.0-litre engine for the 530i trim. If the brand introduces a sportier M Sport model, the 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine is likely to come with that. The launch timeline on the new 5-Series is still unavailable. However, the brand is likely to bring the new 5-Series to India this festive season.
