Francesco Bagnaia extends his agreement with Ducati Corse for two more years. Thus, we will see Francesco Bagnaia riding for the Ducati Lenovo Team’s factory Desmosedici GP motorcycle for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. At the age of 22 years, Bagnaia made his MotoGP debut in 2019 with the Desmosedici GP of the Pramac Racing Team. He then continued with the same team for the 2020 season as well. In this season, he achieved his first podium at the Grand Prix Lenovo of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, where he finished second on the rostrum.

Last year Bagnaia was promoted to the official Ducati Team. And from the very first race, the rider proved his valour as he finished P3. He continued to prove his skills and kept Ducati fighting for the title till the end. Throughout the 2021 season, Bagnaia secured nine podiums, four victories and six pole positions. His wins at Aragón, Misano, Portimão and Valencia speaks volumes of his calibre. With this, he finished second in the overall MotoGP World Championship and helped Ducati to win their third constructors’ title.

The Upcoming Season

With 2 more years of the contract, Bagnaia will look to carry his form to the 2023 season as well. The first race will take place on 6th March at the Losail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar. Bagnaia is full of energy for the upcoming season and aims to carry the momentum from the previous season. The racer talked about the team collaboration and thanked them for their efforts. With Quartararo taking the title for the 2021 season, beating Bagnaia with a close 26 points, we expect a much tighter competition this season.

Ducati has already unveiled its bikes for the 2022 season. This is the first time in MotoGP’s history that the factory team’s Desmosedici GP bikes will wear Ducati red livery. This is the same colour shade that Ducati sells to the customers. Alongside Jack Miller, Bagnaia will aim to retain the constructor’s title for Ducati for the 2022 season.
