Four out of six Suzuki's launches will be scooters

Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd (SMIL) plans to launch a total of six products this year, out of which, four will be scooters. SMIL is currently the fourth largest scooter brand in the country behind Honda, Hero MotoCorp and TVS.

Four out of the six new launches will include new (or refreshed variants) scooters, while the remaining two will be motorcycles. With the scooter sales in the industry picking up speed, Suzuki wants to up the scooter sales volume to enhance the company’s presence in the market.

Suzuki aims at hitting 7.5 lakh units in production and sales in three years with a mix of 35% motorcycles and 65% scooters. The current mix is 80:20, in the favour of scooters. As of date, SMIL has 12% market share in the scooter segment and sells around 3.5 lakh scooters annually.

Suzuki denies the possibility of a 150cc scooter at the moment and will continue focussing on the 100-125cc scooters with their Let’s, Access and Swish range, along with future models in the same segment.

Also, the 150cc Gixxer motorcycle is going to be launched soon.
