Written by Nizam Shaikh

Ford has teased the new Ford EcoSport ‘SE’ that is gearing up to launch in the Indian market soon. In its SE trim, the new Ford EcoSport will come with a new tailgate design that does not offer a tailgate-mounted spare wheel but adds new features such as a silver skid plate. The number plate holder is also mounted higher on the tailgate instead of the lower bumper. Speculations are that the new Ford EcoSport in the SE trim will come with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and a Tyre Puncture Repair kit. Other than this the compact SUV is not likely to receive any other changes and will be similar to the ‘S’ trim.

Powertrain Configuration

The Ford EcoSport SE is likely to come with the same powertrain that is available on the EcoSport S which is a BS6 emission-compliant 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol motor that produces 122 PS of power and 149 Nm of torque. The Ecosport also comes with a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. The Ford EcoSport S is available with only a 5-speed manual transmission though a 6-speed automatic gearbox is on offer in the Petrol Titanium+ variant.

Dimensions & Exterior Features

The Ford EcoSport S measures 3998mm in length, 1765mm in width, 1647mm in height, 2519mm of the wheelbase and a 52-litre fuel tank capacity. On the outside, the EcoSport S features quad beam reflector headlamps with HID lamps, LED daytime running lamps, black painted fog lamps bezels, dual reversing lamps with a high mounted tail lamp, electric sunroof, body-coloured ORVMs, black roof rails, black painted roof and black-out B and C-pillar.

Interior Features

The Ford EcoSport S features a multilayered dashboard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford’s SYNC3 and voice recognition system as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity features. The ‘S’ trim also comes with FordPass vehicle connectivity features, dual USB ports control-mounted steering wheel, cruise control, leather seating, a cargo management system and sporty alloy pedals etc. The SUV also comes with a plethora of active and passive safety features such as Dual Front Airbags, ABS with EBD, Emergency Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Hill Launch Assist etc.
