Ford Motors could be planning to make a comeback in the Indian market. The company is likely to be in talks with the government of Tamil Nadu to restart manufacturing of Ford cars in the Indian market. According to sources, the company has been in discussions with the government for the second time this year, which leads us to believe that the company could soon start production once again in India.
Ford Endeavour & Ranger to be Manufactured in India?
In the recent past, reports have revealed that Ford could be planning to start manufacturing the Ford Endeavour which is also sold as the Ford Everest abroad, in India. However, starting a manufacturing plant to just produce one unit does not look very feasible. Even if the brand plans on adding the Ranger to its manufacturing plant in the future. A full size factory with just two products may still be operationally costly.
In addition to the Endeavour and the Ranger, Ford could also be planning to produce EVs in India. Ford is likely to manufacture its cars in the Indian market for sales in the international market. A Tweet on social media platform X also reveals that the brand is in talks with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin, “to again make in Tamil Nadu for the world!”
Ford to Manufacture EVs in India?
While the company has still not commented anything officially. Speculations are that Ford could also in a later stage launch its electric vehicles in the Indian market. However, details on the same is still scarce. In the recent past, a few units of the Ford Everest and Ranger pick-up were spotted in the Indian market. These first units are likely to be imported via the CBU route for testing and evaluation in the country.
