On 17th April every year, Ford celebrates the ‘Ford Mustang Year’ and this year the brand celebrated the 56th anniversary of the iconic sports car. The current-generation Mustang was introduced in 2015 and is sold in 146 countries in both left-hand drive and right-hand drive versions. Ford has sold over 633,000 Ford Mustangs in total, including 102,090 units sold in 2019.
The Ford Mustang has also won two global sales crowns and has earned, the world’s best-selling sports car and its fifth straight best-selling sports coupe title. The Ford Mustang is also America’s best-selling sports car for the last 50 years.
A new vehicle registration data from London based global information provider IHS Markit, 102,090 units of Ford Mustang were sold in 2019, making it the best-selling sports car in the World. This is the fifth consecutive time the brand has won the award. In 2019, Mustang sales nearly doubled in France, while Poland saw a 50% increase in sales and Germany with 33%.
The brand now has an extensive performance line-up for the Ford Mustang with up to 12 models available in the global market. The options include EcoBoost and GT models each with two Performance Pack options, Mustang BULLITT, Mustang Shelby GT350 and available Handling Pack, Shelby GT350R, plus Shelby GT500 with Handling Pack and Carbon Fiber Track Pack options.
In the Indian market, the Ford Mustang is available with a starting price of INR 74.62 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi effective from 1st April 2020. The Ford Mustang in India is powered by a 5.0-litre V-8-cylinder Ti-VCT engine with new revised high-flow port cylinder heads that produces 401 ps of power and 515 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed Selectshift automatic transmission.
The two-door four-seater sports car features HID headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, dual-rolled exhaust Pipe with a chrome treatment, 20.32-cm touchscreen infotainment system, 10.66-cm colour cluster screen on the instrument panel, 9 speaker sound system with amplifier, ambient lighting and safety systems such as multiple airbags, ABS, EPAS (pull-drift compensation), seat belt reminder, seat belt pretensioners, reverse parking sensors, a rearview camera, TPMS, ISOFIX etc.
The Ford Mustang is available in 6 exterior paint options – Oxford White, Absolute Black, Ingot Silver, Magnetic, Triple Yellow Tri-coat and Race Red.
