Written by News Team

The Ford Mustang, an iconic symbol of automotive power and elegance, is set to make a revolutionary leap in India. The Mustang Mach E, Ford’s electric SUV, has been trademarked in India, signaling the company’s potential re-entry into the Indian market.

A New Chapter for Ford in India

Ford had previously announced its exit from India in 2021, but recent developments suggest a potential comeback. The company has applied for a design patent for the next-gen Endeavour and has now trademarked the Mustang Mach E nameplate. This move aligns with Ford’s global shift towards electric vehicles and indicates a strategic re-entry into the Indian market.

The Mustang Mach-E is expected to be a fully built import, likely to be priced north of ₹1 crore. It will benefit from the lower GST rate for EVs and is expected to offer a range of up to 600 km with a range extender battery. The Mustang Mach E can be configured in either RWD or AWD configurations, as well as in standard and extended-range variants.

In international markets, the entry-level RWD Mach E gets a 72 kWh battery that produces 269 hp and 430 Nm of torque and returns a range of 470 km. The range extender variant uses a 91 kWh battery with 294 hp and 430 Nm, and has a claimed range of 600 km. In India, we are likely to get the entry-level variant. However, since the units are CBU, we might get the option for both.

Awaiting Official Confirmation

While these developments strongly suggest Ford’s re-entry into the Indian market, there has been no official word from the carmaker yet. The Ford India Instagram handle has been active ever since the company bid goodbye to India. The active social handles indicate that the company intends to keep engaging with the customers and keep them interested in case they decide to launch a new product. The Indian automotive industry and Mustang enthusiasts eagerly await further announcements.
