EVeium restructures business model to drive EV affordability in India
EVeium Smart Mobility, the electric two-wheeler brand under Ellysium Automotives, has announced a major shift in its manufacturing strategy to make premium electric scooters more accessible to Indian consumers. By maximising localisation and strengthening its domestic supply chain, EVeium aims to deliver high-performance EVs at more competitive price points—without sacrificing design, safety, or sustainability.
This move aligns with India’s broader push for self-reliance in clean mobility, and positions EVeium as a key player in the country’s evolving EV landscape.
Updated line-up: Cosmo, Comet, and Czar
EVeium’s flagship models—Cosmo, Comet, and Czar—are being reintroduced with refreshed styling and upgraded features. These scooters retain their premium build quality but now benefit from cost efficiencies achieved through local sourcing and manufacturing.
The company has not disclosed exact pricing yet, but early indications suggest a significant reduction compared to previous versions.
Why localisation matters
By producing most components domestically, EVeium gains:
- Better control over quality
- Faster innovation cycles
- Reduced production costs
- Improved supply chain resilience
This strategy also supports the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, encouraging sustainable growth in the EV sector.
Leadership perspective
Sameer Moidin, Founder & CEO of EVeium Smart Mobility, stated: “Sustainable mobility shouldn’t come at the cost of accessibility. By increasing localisation and reinforcing our manufacturing ecosystem in India, we can now offer truly premium electric scooters at prices that resonate with the Indian market.”
Our thoughts
This is EVeium doing what every smart EV brand should—listening to the market and acting fast. It is a good thing that they’re not just chasing specs but focusing on real-world affordability.
