At the EICMA 2024, Royal Enfield has revealed the Himalayan Electric 2.0 concept motorcycle. The Himalayan Electric 2.0 Concept builds over the Himalayan Electric adventure bike which was the brand’s first prototype showcased last year at EICMA. However, the 2.0 Concept comes with a lot of changes compared to the early prototype.
Himalayan Electric 2.0 – Design
In the design department, the Himalayan Electric 2.0 concept appears to have drawn inspiration from the Himalayan 450 adventure motorcycle. The 2.0 concept appears to have a similar tank frame as well as similar LED headlamps and taillamps. The windscreen also appears similar to the ICE powered Himalayan 450. However, the engine-bay area is completely different.
Powertrain and Mechanicals
The battery and motor appears to be covered meticulously even on the prototype, where the engine would sit on the standard Himalayan 450. In addition to this, the suspension of the Himalayan Electric 2.0 is likely to be similar to the Himalayan 450 but tuned specifically for the weight of the electric powertrain and battery. Royal Enfield also revealed that the suspension on the Himalayan Electric 2.0 will be electronic, offering the rider the ability to tune the suspension on the go according to the terrain.
Royal Enfield has not revealed the technical specifications of the Himalayan Electric 2.0 Concept, however, the brand’s TVS reveals that the electric motorcycle will be as much as capable off roads as the ICE powered Himalayan 450. The brand also revealed that the battery and motor on the Himalayan Electric 2.0 are completely new and may have been developed specifically for the adventure motorcycle. The test mule of the motorcycle also appears to come with gold finish spoke rims which could be of the tubeless type.
While the brand has not yet revealed when the Himalayan Electric 2.0 is likely to hit the streets in India. Speculation is the the motorcycle could make its debut by 2026.
