In a bid to gain more trust and confidence of existing and potential customers, Maruti Suzuki has announced 5-year / 1 lakh km warranty on their range of diesel-powered cars. The Dzire, S-Cross, Swift & Vitara Brezza with the diesel engines are subject to this warranty. In times when people are doubting the future of diesel cars in India looking at the governments push for cleaner emission cars; this is a welcome step from Maruti Suzuki to protect and maintain their sales.

With more than 2.9 million customers running primarily with the 1.3L DDiS, 4-cylinder diesel engine, Maruti Suzuki wants to keep their customers happy for longer with this package. All dealerships for Maruti Suzuki which are spread across 1893 towns and cities will back customers with this new warranty, and guess what, it comes at no extra cost for new car buyers. So if you purchase any new Maruti Suzuki model, as mentioned above, your diesel car is good for 5 years / 1 lakh km.

So most would be concerned what is accounted under this warranty. Parts such as the high pressure pump, compressor, ECM, turbocharger and assembly, engine and transmission components and more are covered under this warranty. So all major expensive components are taken care of, except for the wear and tear parts which are subjective to personal use / abuse. Apart from this, steering and suspension is also covered under the warranty plan at no extra cost.

The Fiat-sourced 1.3L DDiS diesel engine is now towards the end of its life cycle. Maruti Suzuki has already developed the new 1.5L DDiS 225, 4-cylinder engine which will do the duty in the brands oil burning car portfolio, and hence, they will not have to pay any royalty either. This way, even after the brand phases out the 1.3L engine, customers can have faith at the moment in buying the diesel-powered cars.
