Common mistakes on the road

Common mistakes on the road
Written by Tejen Dhankhar

Everyday you wake up as per your daily routine. Go to office and earn bread and butter for day, come back relax. Some of us love driving to work, while many of us just want to reach our destination swiftly. Mode of transport is different for each of us, but there are some things that are common between all of us. Some mistakes that we all or most of us, do commit every day. Some seriously fatal mistakes. Have a look.

Driving Opposite

It has become so normal that most of us even do not notice until we see any Police patrolling vehicle around. People tend to drive in opposite directions of very busy roads in peak traffic hours. Irony? Many of them even carry speed while doing all this. Most of the times, driving opposite causes traffic jams and mishaps for sure. Wasting time and lives of others and yours is never a good idea. No matter that you need to drive a kilometer or so more, but, avoid such acts.

Jumping Red Lights

Another favorite of Indian’s is jumping red lights. Reach a red light, stop ahead of the zebra crossing, look around for cops, look around for incoming traffic and there you go. Pedal to metal theory is applied for jumping red lights. Consequences? Despite of the accidents that it causes, it also don’t save any type of major time for you. Why won’t you follow your time table rather than be late and jumping lights.

Ignoring Safety Equipments

One thing that never goes out of notice is motorcyclists hanging their helmets on their forehead / arms. Helmets are not to save your fine money by cops, but for your safety. I mean why would you buy a helmet to not to wear it!

Car drivers are equally mischievous. Seat belts are a rare sight.

Reckless Driving

Looks like our country is obsessed with speed enthusiasts but we happen to find none of them over track days, because, they like to play it dirty. Zig-Zag driving and over speeding and overtaking in city conditions just can’t be ignored every day. People would come out of  nowhere and merge into traffic forcibly. We see accidents happening live and we hold our breaths and blame the speeding driver.

Lack Of Sense

No use of indicators, rear view mirrors folded (in case of motorcycles they remove them), loud music and sudden overtakes and turns anywhere without any prior notice to following traffic. What else can you expect apart from accidents?

I see many a motorcyclists with a talent of fixing their mobile phones in the already hanging helmet at their forehead, woah!

Adding to all this fussy traffic we also meet drivers who would stop in middle of moving traffic to ask for directions or to de-board or onboard a vehicle / bus. People parking their vehicles illogically in no parking areas, parking cars in a manner to block the traffic and the adjacent parked vehicles.

Whenever you take out your vehicle on road, no matter how bad was your day, how sad you were or how happy, always set your temperament before driving or riding. Roads are for everyone and believe us nobody claps for you when you do any of such acts. So why play insane when you can be smart. Think twice before you drive.
