Citroen India has officially teased the Basalt Dark Edition, marking its entry into the popular trend of black-themed special edition vehicles. This move aligns with the growing demand for dark-themed cars in the Indian market, as seen with similar editions from competitors like Tata, Hyundai, and Mahindra. The Basalt Dark Edition could launch soon, though Citroen has not yet confirmed an official date.

Basalt Dark edition – what to expect?

The Basalt Dark Edition will feature an all-black exterior, including blacked-out elements such as the wheels, skid plates, and badges. The teaser hints at a dark chrome finish for certain accents, adding a touch of sophistication to the SUV coupe’s design. Inside, the cabin will adopt an all-black theme, replacing the standard dual-tone upholstery with a more premium and sporty look.

No changes to the powertrain

Mechanically, the Dark Edition will remain unchanged. The current version is equipped with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 110 hp and 205 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and a torque converter automatic. The special edition is also expected to retain its comprehensive safety suite, which includes six airbags, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The vehicle is anticipated to be based on the top-spec variant, ensuring it comes loaded with features. These include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also features automatic climate control, and a 7-inch digital driver’s display. The SUV coupe will also offer a wireless phone charger and rear AC vents for added convenience.

Basalt Dark edition price?

Citroen’s decision to introduce the SUV-coupe in a Dark Edition comes at a time when the automaker is looking to strengthen its foothold in the Indian market. The special edition may command a premium of INR 20,000 to INR 40,000 over the standard model. Currently, the Basalt starts at INR 7.99 lakh and tops out at INR 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom).
