Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Citroen will soon launch its first electric car based on C3 for the Indian market. The only true rival to Citroen’s product is the Tata Tiago EV. Citroen C3 electric’s launch is a part of the company’s smart car programme, referred to as the C-cubed programme. Under this plan, Citroen aims at launching multiple compact cars at an affordable price point.

All of these cars will have their base on Citroen’s CMP platform. Made in India Citroen cars will also target foreign markets. Given the fact that Citroen is looking to launch the C3 Electric at an affordable price point. We could assume a range close to that of the Tiago EV. Citroen has also unveiled the teaser of this EV which goes by the name, e-C3.

Citrone e-C3 Features On Offer

In terms of the equipment list, we will share that most of it were borrowed from petrol-powered C3. Some key features could include a 26cm touchscreen infotainment system, C-Buddy connectivity tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and voice commands with Siri and Google Assistant. Safety packages could include dual-airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, engine immobiliser, high-speed alert system and speed-sensitive auto door lock.

Citroen India’s Charging Infrastructure

To set up the charging network, Citroen has signed a partnership with JIO-BP. With this, EV fast charging facility powered by Jio-BP pulse will have its presence in key Citroën dealerships across India. Jio-BP will also install DC fast chargers across Citroën’s key dealership network and workshops across the country in a phased manner. These chargers will also help EV car customers to help boost EV adoption among consumers.

The Road Ahead For Citroen India

After C3 Electric, Citroen also has plans to launch multiple new products in India. For its electric range of vehicles, Citroen will focus on achieving a high level of localization. The only major part is that i.e. the battery packs will come from outside. Citroen has plans to extend the EV share to around 5-10 per cent by 2025. The long-term target for 2030 is to breach EV penetration to reach 25 per cent, as per the company’s estimate.
