Bad news for the ones looking to get the Citroen C3. The French carmaker has hiked the prices of its high-riding hatchback. The newly updated pricing is applicable from this month. With this, it is the third price hike introduced by the French automaker since the arrival of C3 in July 2022. We believe the price hike is because Citroen updated the C3’s two petrol powertrains. So as to meet the upcoming Real Driving Emission (RDE) norms.
Citroen C3 Updates Pricing
The C3 continues with the same powertrain options. Both of which are 1.2-litre petrol engines which are now RDE and E20 compliant. The first engine makes about 8 HP and is naturally aspirated. Customers can get this engine with a 5-speed manual. The second engine on offer is a 110 HP rated exciting turbocharged unit. This engine gets a 6-speed manual gearbox. As of now, there is no automatic gearbox option on the offer. But given the rising demand for automatics in the market. Citroen plans to offer a 6-speed torque converter automatic for the C3 in the second half of 2023.
The C3 is available in three variants to choose from. These are namely, Live, Feel and Feel Turbo. The Live and Feel variants get a price hike of INR 18,000. On the other hand, Feel Turbo’s prices remain unchanged. The C3 now retails at a starting price of INR 6.16 lakh and goes up to INR 8.25 lakh.
Other Options To Citroen C3
Other options to take on the C3 include a wide range of options. This includes Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
Citroen India’s The Road Ahead
As the EV movement picks up pace, Citroen recently launched the electric counterpart of the C3 in India. In addition to this, the carmaker is also working on an all-new midsize SUV. This SUV is currently undergoing the final phases of testing. Once launched it will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. The brand also has plans to bring the all-electric eC3 Aircross SUV to India by 2025.
