BMW has unveiled its new sports car Skytop Concept which the brand plans to bring to this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is a contest held on the shores of Lake Como showcasing historic cars and motorcycles. The two seater sports car concept warm monochromatic colours and comes with a muscular athletic stance. The BMW Skytop Concept blends BMW’s traditional craftsmanship with exclusive materials and is comparable to historic models such as the BMW Z8 or BMW 503, reveals BMW.
BMW Skytop Concept – Design
The BMW Skytop Concept features clean and precise lines along with muscular surfaces directing the car’s volume towards the rear. The car’s winglets also integrate seamlessly into the door shoulders replacing conventional door handles. The alloy wheels of the Skytop Concept also feature a unique appearance thanks to the precise lamellas. From a bird’s eye perspective, a particularly pronounced spline can be seen on the bonnet which extends to the interior of the car and ends with an aluminium trim on the tailgate. The headlights and taillights also have a very slim profile and feature a well defined shape.
The two-seat Skytop also comes with a leather-finished roll-over bar and side fins on the B-pillar. The two part roof is is removable and can be stored in a special compartment in the luggage space. The rear window also completely retracts offering a seamless design and all round view. The roof also features a reddish-brown tone and blends well with the silver with chrome shadow effect of the exterior paintwork.
BMW Skytop Concept – Powertrain
BMW also reveals that the Skytop concept will get engine variants similar to the BMW Z8. In addition to this, the brand also revealed that the BMW Skytop will receive the most powerful V8 engine in the BMW drive train portfolio.
