Ceat launches EV tyres for Electric Buses

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

CEAT Tyres India has launched a new set of tyres for several leading EV OEMs. CEAT claims that these tyres have features which have been tested for the ride and handling specific to the requirements of electric buses. CEAT’s WINENERGY X3-R tyres are already proven in EV fleets across the country.

EV Specific Tyres By CEAT

As per data, these tyres deliver 30 per cent higher mileage, 30 per cent better rolling resistance, and 50 per cent reduction in tyre noise as compared to regular tyres. These parameters are quite important in EV vehicles. These electric buses are cheaper to run and safe for the environment when compared to vehicles using fossil fuels.

The R&D invested by CEAT Tyres into the development of the new EV tyres has taken into account the unique requirements and characteristics of an electric bus. Any electric bus will have higher torque, both at the start and also when accelerating. Furthermore, an electric engine is also heavier than a diesel engine. Hence CEAT has worked to improve the technical aspects of CEAT’s WINENERGY X3-R tyres to address these requirements.

Key Features Of CEAT’s WINENERGY X3-R tyres

The tyre makes use of all-steel tubeless construction. The robust casing caters to the high torque requirement. The tyres also have low rolling resistance for better mileage. Other equipped technologies utilised include EVST for better stiffness and tyre grip, FaF to dampen noise, and BRIC-T to resist tread buckling. The tyres get a characteristic unique circuit design, a wider contact, and reinforced sidewalls. All these parameters add up to provide better traction and reduce tyre damage. This makes these tyres provide a safer, cost-effective, and smoother ride. Another advantage of these EV tyres is that they fit all axle positions. The EV tyres are currently available in two sizes, i.e., 295/80R22.5 and 255/70R22.5.
