Toyota is very happy with the way the Camry Hybrid is performing in India. The company claims, out of the total sales, almost 75% Camry’s sold in India are Hybrids.
Ever since the launch, Toyota has managed to sell 541 units of the Camry Hybrid. Which is a decent figure given the high price being demanded for the hybrid tech. This result is encouraging Toyota to consider more hybrid vehicles for the Indian marketplace.
The Camry Hybrid is assembled at Toyota Kirloskar Motors’ second plant in Bidadi, near Bangalore. The hybrid range is assembled on a separate assembly line. India is the 9th country globally to assemble / manufacture hybrid Toyota vehicles.
Powering the Camry Hybrid is a 2.5L, 4-cylinder, VVT-I petrol motor producing 160 PS of power @ 5,700 RPM and 213 Nm of torque @ 4,500 RPM. The hybrid motor is a 650V unit with a maximum output of 143 PS and 270 Nm. Engine is mated to an E-CVT (electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission).
The Camry Hybrid is available for Rs. 29.99 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi).
