Camp Kharu is Royal Enfield’s Green Pit Stop in Ladakh

Royal Enfield has unveiled a new “Green Pit Stop in Ladakh” called Camp Kharu. Camp Kharu is one of first out of many planned popular stops that will soon come up on popular motorcycling routes. Royal Enfield also revealed that Camp Kharu is also one of the first such Pit Stops planned by Royal Enfield. The company will be introducing many more of such Green Pit Stops around the Ladakh region for motorcyclists.

Where is Camp Kharu?

Royal Enfield has revealed that Camp Kharu is a short ride from Leh and lies on the NH-3 Leh-Manali Highway. In addition to this, the brand also revealed that Camp Kharu also lies en route Pangong lake, Tso moriri and Hanle. These are much-visited places in the Ladakh region especially among bikers.

What is Camp Kharu?

Camp Kharu is located in Kharu market and the property is a two-storied archetype rammed earth architecture, designed by architect Sandeep Bogadhi of Earthling. The 1500 sq.ft Camp Kharu overlooks the Zanskar range from the banks of the Indus River. In addition to this, Camp Kharu offers a safe haven for travellers, who can come in to rest and also have refreshments. Additionally, Camp Kharu also offers tourist information including riding routes and a list of homesteads which are supported by Royal Enfield.

Who Runs Camp Kharu?

Camp Kharu us managed by six self-help group (SHG) women, from the Kharu village. The property offers authentic Ladakhi dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, and has a cafe along with commercial and exhibition spaces. Royal Enfield has also trained them in entrepreneurship, hospitality, bookkeeping, facility management, cooking and baking, revealed the brand. In addition to this, Royal Enfield also revealed they also visited Mumbai and Goa for further exposure and was mentored by established chefs like Chef Prateek Sadhu of Naar.
