BYD’s new EV plant in India – All details
As per a latest report published online, the Chinese EV giant, BYD, has finalized its first local production plant in India. The land scouting seems to have resulted in Hyderabad as the best-suited place for the upcoming EV production facility for the company.
The growth of BYD in India has been strong, as it continues to introduce its global products. Additionally, the overall growth in EV car sales and the EV charging infrastructure has also helped the brand in India.
The report also states that the upcoming production facility will produce the batteries in-house with a capacity of 20 GWh.
The new production facility is believed to be spread over 500 acres, and an investment of a whopping Rs 85,000 crore has been finalized. With this, the company aims to produce up to 6,00,000 units of different EVs by 2032.
Meanwhile, the global rival Tesla, is also readying to enter the growing EV market of India. The US-based competitor of BYD is working on finalizing its production facility in India and also setting up showroom spaces in tier-1 cities.
