Buyback scheme for scooters from Hero MotoCorp

Written by Nizam Shaikh

India’s number one motorcycle manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has announced ‘BuySurance’ which is a buyback scheme for its scooters. The scheme was initially launched in March 2019 in Pune and now Hero MotoCorp has extended it to Bangalore and Delhi. Hero MotoCorp plans to launch the scheme in India’s top 10 scooter markets. Hero MotoCorp has launched this scheme in association with CredR, which is an online two-wheeler marketplace.

To receive the buyback benefits, the customer can approach a Hero dealership with the scooter and a certificate which will be furnished by CredR. Under the buyback scheme ‘BuySurance’, customers who buy a Hero scooter will receive a certificate with fixed buyback value in 6-months intervals which will be valid for five years from the date of purchase.

Hero MotoCorp has launched this scheme owing to slowed down scooter sales from their portfolio which includes:-

  • Pleasure
  • Duet
  • Maestro Edge
  • Destini 125

The most powerful scooter from them is the Hero Destini 125 which is powered by an air/fan cooled, 124.6cc, 4-stroke engine producing 8.7 BHP of power and 10.2 Nm of torque coupled to a variomatic gearbox with a dry centrifugal clutch. The scooter rides on a telescopic front suspension and a single hydraulic coil spring shock absorber on the rear. The scooter weighs 111.5 kg (kerb) and has a payload capacity of 130kg.

Hero MotoCorp is India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer and has sold a total of over 85 million units in its 34 years of Market presence.
