BS6 Jeep Compass diesel automatic variants launched starting from INR 21.96 lakh

FCA India has announced 2 new Jeep Compass diesel variants in India which come with a BS6 compliant diesel automatic drivetrain. The The Compass 4×4 Longitude 9AT is priced at INR 21.96 lakh while the Limited Plus variant costs INR 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). The BS6 compliant engine is BSVI compliant and is a 2.0L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged unit producing 172 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque and both the variants come with AWD / 4×4 configuration. These variants have been introduced sighting demand for the higher variants of the Jeep Compass here in India.

Jeep Compass Longitude come with cruise control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with UConnect, reverse camera with dynamic guide lines, dual zone climate control, start / stop button for engine, 17″ alloy wheels, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill start assist, all-4 disc brakes, electronic park brake and frequency damped suspension. This variant comes with the SelecTerrain AWD system with Auto, Sand, Mud & Snow 4×4 modes. The Jeep Compass Limited Plus is the top model, below the Trailhawk trims and comes with additional features such as 8.4″ touchscreen infotainment, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, leather seats, 8-way electric seat adjustment for driver, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, 6-airbags, 18″ alloy wheels, electrochromic IRVM, etc.

The updated engine is the same as the Compass Trailhawk variants.

While the introduction of BS6 engines comes at the right time, the manual variants are yet to be updated. Also, introducing automatics at this moment is too little, too late as customers now have more choices in a segment below like the Kia Seltos. The Jeep Compass, in reference to the Hyundai portfolio slots between the Creta & Tucson. The Jeep Compass is a 5-seater SUV in India and a facelift model is under development for a 2020 debut. The Compass SUV was first launched in India in 2017.
