The mid-level commuter segment with the 125 displacement engine has been gaining traction in the Indian market. Manufacturers have also brought in iteration of their entry-level ~100cc scooters with larger 125cc blocks and for this specification comparison, we have chosen the Honda Activa 125, the Suzuki Access 125 and the Maestro Edge 125. All three have been upgraded with BS6 compliant powertrains and come with add-on features as compared to their 100~110cc counterparts.

Engine:

The Honda Activa 125 is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 125cc single cylinder, air/fan-cooled engine which produces 8.5 PS of power at 6,500 rpm and 10.54 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm coupled to a CVT gearbox. The Suzuki Access 125 is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant all-aluminium 124cc, single-cylinder 4-stroke air/fan-cooled fuel-injected engine that produces 8.7 PS of power and 10 Nm of torque matched to an automatic gearbox. The Hero Maestro Edge 125 is powered by a BS6 compliant 125cc air/fan-cooled, single cylinder 4-stroke OHC engine with Programmed Fuel Injection that makes 9.1 PS of power and 10.4 Nm of torque matched to a Variomatic drive (automatic) with dry centrifugal clutch.
