Suzuki Motorcycles India PVT LTD has launched the BS6 compliant 155cc engines on the Gixxer and the Gixxer SF. The naked roadster Gixxer has been launched at the price of INR 1,11,871 ex-showroom, Delhi, the Gixxer SF demands an INR 1000 premium over the naked roadster and is priced at INR 1,12,871 ex-showroom, Delhi and the MotoGP edition Gixxer SF which comes in a ‘Metallic Triton Blue’ paint scheme and body graphics is priced at 1,22,900 ex-showroom, Delhi.

The new BS6 compliant 155cc engine on the Gixxer series is a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC motor with fuel injection and Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology that produces 13.6 PS of power and 13.8 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed transmission. The outgoing BS4 compliant engine used to produce a slightly higher figure of 14.1 PS of power and 14 Nm of torque. The drop in the performance figures is the result of a larger catalyst type exhaust gas after-treatment system and changes to meet BS6 conformity.

The Gixxer features an all-LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, digital instrumentation, a 12-litre angular design fuel tank, split-type step-up seat, dual exhaust outlets, 6-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, rear tyre hugger, disc brakes on both ends equipped with ABS, telescopic front fork and a swing-arm mounted mono-shock on the rear. The Gixxer comes with a kerb weight of 141 kg and an approachable 795mm seat height.

The fully-faired Gixxer SF which shares the powertrain and mechanicals with its naked roadster sibling features an aerodynamic front end, wide LED headlight unit, clip-on handlebars, stiffer front suspension and an added weight of 7 kgs. The two also differ in terms of their exterior dimensions and the naked roadster Gixxer model is 2020 mm in length, 800 mm in width, 1,035 mm in height, gets 1,335 mm wheelbase and 160 mm of ground clearance while the Gixxer SF is 5mm longer, 5mm slender, has 5mm of increased wheelbase and 5mm of extra ground clearance but the overall height and the seat height remain unchanged.

Apart from the BS6 compliant engine update, the motorcycles remain largely unchanged. SMIPL also unveiled the 155cc Intruder at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo 2020 and the only cruiser in the brands India portfolio is expected to be launched soon.

The Gixxer comes with three colour options – Black, Silver/Black and Blue/Black while the Gixxer SF comes with Black and Silver/Black along with the Metallic Blue MotoGP edition.
