Written by Nizam Shaikh

Royal Enfield is planning to introduce a new Himalayan in the Indian market. The motorcycle will also subsequently cater to the international markets, where the brand is now in popular demand. The new Himalayan is likely to come with an all-new chassis, engine and body design and is likely to be dubbed ‘Himalayan 450’. Yes, the first clue is in the number, the new engine is likely to have more displacement, and according to the leaked images, it is likely to be liquid-cooled. The brand will also likely employ a new lightweight chassis and enduro-inspired bodywork for the Himalayan 450. The new motorcycle will help the brand compete with the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – Technical Speculations

According to sources, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will come with a new 450cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. The compact motor is likely to produce around 40 Hp of power. Torque figures are currently unknown and will be confirmed later. However, the motor is likely to be either an under-square or squared-off motor, generating high amounts of torque. But, the engine is not the only revolutionary item on the new motorcycle. Sources say that the brand is likely to employ a new trellis chassis. This will not only offer stiffness but also keep the weight down.

Royal Enfield is likely to offer 21-inch front, and 17-inch rear spoke rims. This, combined with a long-travel suspension, will offer a comfortable ride on highways and agility to tackle off-road. While the wheel and suspension setup could be borrowed from the predecessor, Royal Enfield is likely to tune the suspension according to the new weight and dynamics. The brand is also likely to offer front and rear disc brakes with uprated callipers and dual-channel ABS.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – Design and Features

According to the leaked images, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will draw its design inspiration from the Himalayan 411. The bike comes with a similar rounded headlamp, a tall windscreen, and a chiselled fuel tank. The 450 is also likely to come with a straight bench seat, sharp tail section. The bike also appears to come with a new dashboard, integrating a new digital instruments console.
