Tata Motors plans to introduce a new electric vehicle concept in the Indian market. The brand has announced that the upcoming electric vehicle concept will make its debut on the 6th of April 2022. Tata, through the micro-blogging website Twitter, announced that the electric vehicle concept would be an SUV offered under the EvolveToElectric initiative. The brand has also partially revealed the front fascia of the new electric SUV concept.

Tata Motors – Electric SUV Concept

According to the teaser, the electric SUV concept will feature a butch yet futuristic front end design. The SUV concept will come with concentric triangular lamps on the bumper and wraparound LEDs on the fascia. This makes the SUV concept appear wide and imposing from the front end. The light signatures also appear to continue towards the ORVMs. The electric SUV concept is also likely to feature a blank-out grille and aerodynamic front and rear bumpers. The aero features also continue with the specially designed alloy wheels that reduce the vehicle’s drag. We speculate that the new concept will also come with the latest exterior and interior features, which Tata will reveal in the next two days.

Rumours suggest that TPEML could be planning to resurrect the Sierra in the electric-only format in the near future. The concept study could, in the near future, become the Tata Sierra EV which was also showcased in the concept form at the 2020 Auto Expo in Delhi. The Sierra EV could be built using the ALFA or OMEGA platforms that are already in use on other Tata SUVs.

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited

Recently TPEML revealed that the electric mobility division has entered into an agreement with TPG Rise Climate. The company also revealed that TPG Rise Climate and its co-investors would invest INR 7,500 crore (USD 1 Billion) in compulsory convertible instruments. This will help Tata build a robust electric ecosystem in the Indian market for the future of EVs.
