Written by Nizam Shaikh

BMW is gearing up to launch the new iX electric SUV in the Indian market a couple of days from now. The iX will be BMW’s first electric SUV in the Indian market. The Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) has put the BMW iX to its paces in terms of safety testing. According to the Euro NCAP, the BMW iX has scored a full 5-stars for safety. The coveted score is valid for both right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive countries. The brand also revealed that the premium electric SUV would come to the Indian market as a CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit). This leads us to believe that the same rating will also be valid for the Indian market.

Euro NCAP Crash Testing Scores

The EV scored 43 out of 49 points in this category. The Euro NCAP reveals that the car scored the maximum possible points in the frontal impact test, lateral impact test and child restraint system (CRS) installation tests.

The car scored 73 per cent in the Vulnerable Road User department, which is the lowest score for the brand. In this segment, the car scores 39.9 out of 54 points and 24.2 out of 36 points for the Pedestrian Protection department.
