In June 2022, BMW India announced that it will launch 10 exclusive special edition models in India as a part of the BMW M division’s 50th anniversary. So far, BMW has launched 4 ’50 Jahre M Edition’ models in India. And today, the brand has launched the fifth one – X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition.

If you think that’s a long name, wait till you see the X7. BMW’s flagship ‘X’ model is a statement of the luxury class. It combines a luxury sedan’s modernity with a sports activity vehicle’s agility and space. It is big, bold and offers an incredible road presence.

BMW India will locally assemble the new limited edition of the X7 at its plant in Chennai. Though the brand says it is a limited edition, it has not revealed the number of units that will be up for grabs. The BMW X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition will come with a sticker price of INR 1,20,50,000 ex-showroom. The brand says it will be available for bookings through online channels. However, there’s no word on the delivery timeline.

The front of the X7 is one of its most distinctive aspects, says BMW. At the front, it gets a large kidney grille in a high-gloss black finish. As with other 50 Jahre M Editions, it also gets the iconic M emblem. The same also features at the rear as well as on its wheel hub caps. It also comes standard with BMW’s Laser Light technology with blue X-shaped elements.

On the sides, the large windows, elongated roofline and long doors emphasise the X7’s spaciousness. The limited edition also features new 21-inch 752M Jet Black alloy wheels and M Sport brake callipers in a Black High Gloss finish. At the rear, it continues to sport the slim LED taillights and a two-section split tailgate.

The X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition will be available in two colour options. These are – Mineral White and Carbon Black.

The massive exterior also results in an impressive amount of space on the inside. Like a typical BMW, it gets a cockpit that is orientated towards the driver. Furthermore, the elevated seating position and all-around visibility of the X models remain the same. The limited edition also gets M Seat belts and an M Leather steering wheel. Other features include electric seat adjustment with memory and heating function, lumbar support, a 5-zone automatic air conditioning and a soft-close function for all the doors. At the rear, it also gets the Rear-seat Entertainment Professional, which adds two 10.2-inch full-HD touchscreen displays. They also feature an integrated Blu-ray player.

The X7 also features the large Sky Lounge Panoramic glass sunroof, which extends all the way to the third row. Speaking of which, it is available in a seven-seat configuration as standard. Additionally, there’s also an optional six-seat configuration which includes two captain-style Comfort Seats for the second row. Another interior highlight is the ‘Crafted Clarity’, which sees a host of elements such as the iDrive controller, gear selector insert, start/stop button and audio control buttons come crafted in exquisite glass embellishment.

BMW is also offering an optional M Accessories Package. All accessories under this optional package come in a carbon fibre material. These include an Alcantara M Performance Steering Wheel, carbon fibre mirror caps, Alcantara key fob and more.
