BMW S1000XR launched at INR 20.90 lakh, available only in PRO variant

BMW has launched the all-new BMW S 1000 XR positioned in the brand’s adventure touring line-up available in the ‘Pro’ variant priced at INR 20.90 lakh ex-showroom in the Indian market. The BMW S 1000 XR is available in two colour options Racing Red and Ice Grey. The BMW S 1000 XR competes with other adventure tourers such as the Ducati Multistrada and the Triumph Tiger in both the Indian and international markets. 

In terms of styling, the BMW S 1000 XR follows the adventure motorcycle design philosophy of the BMW GS family and features an upright fascia with a sharp beak on the front integrated with the dual split headlamps, advanced LED lighting, LED DRLs, height-adjustable touring style windscreen, angular nose cowling, chiselled tank, sharp features on the side fairings, an upright handlebar, a scooped seat, pillion grab rails, and highlights such as luggage system attachments, colour TFT display with BMW Motorrad connectivity, keyless ride toll pass compartment etc.

Powering the BMW S 1000 XR is the 999cc in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke 4-valve DOHC motor with electronic intake pipe injection that produces 165 Hp of power and 114 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed synchromesh gearbox with spur gears and self-reinforced wet multi-plate slipper clutch. 

In terms of mechanical hardware, the S 1000 XR comes with an aluminium composite bridge frame with a partially self-supporting engine that rides on 46mm electronic self-adjusting rebound/compression damping (Dynamic ESA) upside-down telescopic fork on the front and a central spring strut, adjustable rebound-stage damping shock-absorber mounted on the aluminium double-sided swingarm. The S 1000 XR gets twin 320mm disc brakes on the front and a single 265mm disc brake on the rear armed with switchable partially integral BMW Motorrad Race ABS. 

The BMW S 1000 XR is available for order from today onwards (16th July 2020) throughout the BMW Motorrad dealer network. The BMW S 1000 XR comes to the Indian market via the completely built-up unit (CBU) route and comes with a standard warranty of three years / unlimited kilometres’, with an option to extend the warranty to fourth and fifth year.
