BMW reveals F80 M3 CS with xDrive AWD

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

BMW has officially showcased its most powerful M3 ever, the F80 M3 CS. Thus this is even more powerful than the BMW M3 competition. The BMW M3 CS will come in a sedan body style in limited numbers worldwide.

BMW M3 CS: design and interior

The M3 CS differentiates from the M3 Competition visually by some design tweaks. The most noticeable one is an angrier-looking, open front grille designed to match the front end of BMW’s GT4-spec M4 racer. We also get to see gaping air intakes round off the new-look nose which is joined by a host of items that enhance aerodynamics. The sporty sedan gets special V-spoke gold wheels – 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear, wearing track-focused tyres. Overall, the tyres and alloys look quite scintillating. The M compound brakes come with red callipers, while carbon-ceramic brakes are also on offer.

The interior of the M3 CS is very similar to that of the M3 Competition. Thus, it gets BMW’s newest widescreen infotainment set-up. But one key differentiating feature is the Merino leather seats and CS badging.

BMW M3 CS Mechanical Highlights

The new BMW M3 CS sedan gets an additional 40hp over the already powerful M3 Competition. The engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight six. This is an uprated version of the same engine found in the standard BMW M3 and BMW M4. The straight-six engine makes 650Nm, channelled to BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system. The sedan also benefits from a selectable RWD feature.

One of the keys to the M3 CS’s performance figures is its lighter weight. All thanks to the use of lightweight materials across the car. In total, the M3 CS is a good 20kg lighter than the 1,780kg M3 Competition.

Underneath, the chassis remains pretty much the same as the M3 Competition. The M Dynamic driving mode is more suited towards high-speed circuit driving. Other key inclusions include individually tuned axle kinematics and wheel camber settings, dampers, auxiliary springs and anti-roll bars.
